Your career is just the same.  You may have started out with one job in mind.  Your signature recipe. But those valuable skills and experiences that have made you successful so far can take you further.  Mix them up with a few different ingredients and options appear.  This is the art of career redesign.

How the programme works

Structured, action-oriented development

If you know something’s got to change but don’t know where to start, I can help.   The Careers Redesigned programme is a start-to-finish complete programme designed for mid-life professionals who want more from the next act in their lives.

The programme is based upon the highly successful Firework career coaching process.   Honed and refined with hundreds of clients over the past fifteen years with reassuring input from experts in career design it’s a process that works.   Divided into three phases – EXPLORE, REDESIGN and REALISE you’ll become reacquainted with your strengths, values, skills, interests, motivations and what you want from work in this next period of your life.

It's a demanding combination of course-work, exploratory exercises and shift-projects supported throughout by twelve individual 121 coaching sessions.  Serious effort designed to produce serious and outstanding results.  You’ll finish with both a clear vision of the career that is right for you and be already taking the specific concrete steps to make it happen.

Proven process optimised for results

It’s a comprehensive programme with a proven structured framework for midlife career transformation.  Using stimulating, engaging and sometimes demanding exercises, it’s primed for redesign, stimulating resourcefulness and creativity to find the right next step for you.

The twelve coaching sessions are broken down into three distinct phases: EXPLORE, REDESIGN, REALISE. Click below to discover more about each of these.

  • The EXPLORE phase is based on research that shows the most satisfying and rewarding careers are those that draw on your core strengths, leverage your skills and reflect your values.

    In the EXPLORE phase (seven sessions) we explore your experiences to date and get clear on your values, life purpose, who you are when you’re at your most powerful, your personal achievements, interests, passions and what gives you that get up and go feeling when no-one’s even looking.

  • The REDESIGN phase takes all the great assets you have and then starts to pivot these towards new career possibilities.   This is the place where we get creative – redesigning within your here and now as well as entirely new career choices. With my help we get to think big, not be constrained by tradition or the choices other people make so that options emerge that you’ve likely not thought of before.  

    Using specific techniques such as “the spectrum of possibilities” we can envision a single career pivot as well as a journey towards that destination with productive stepping off points along the way.   This is the point for many us where our inner saboteurs convince us we’re not good enough, it’s not practical or possible at my age, no-one will believe in me.   We incorporate techniques from Positive Intelligence to expose these thoughts and bring wiser thinking to the fore.

    At the end of the ideas phase you’ll have three viable pathways and we work to narrow this down to one, that is the most attractive and that we’ll take action upon

  • The REALISE phase is all about turning this thinking into results.  It’s where you start to visualise and implement the pathway emerging from REDESIGN.   Realising this pathway, we’ll work together through a creative process to turn your compelling vision of your new career path into a clear, structured, ownable plan – with clear self-accountability so that the vision turns into reality.

COMMITMENT

Redesigning your career isn’t something that happens overnight or through just reading a book – if it were that simple, you’d have done it by now.  It takes intentional, sustained action, courage to face into the inner thoughts that hold you back and a commitment of time and mental energy.

Some people just strike lucky, an opportunity lands in front of them and that’s great.  For others it can feel like a long, drawn-out process and one where it’s easy to lose focus and motivation.

My coaching programme is based on the Firework process that’s supported hundreds of people through career transition for over fourteen years.  There are no quick fixes, but an investment in time, mental energy and a commitment to completing the actions we agree as part of the programme.

My role throughout is to develop your self-awareness, your strengths, your interests and to help you make sense of the self-doubt that has held you back so far.   Challenging questions, delivered with sincerity and compassion are designed to help conquer your self-saboteurs, build accountability to yourself and ultimately equip you to own your career redesign – faster and more reliably than if you tried to do this alone.

What to expect in and between sessions

Each of the twelve sessions have a specific purpose and structure.   For some sessions I’ll ask you to complete some exercises that are designed to help you understand more about yourself.  You’ll send these to me in advance of the session – this ensures that our coaching time is used effectively and servicing your priorities.

As you progress through the first half of the programme you’ll be building a work canvas and a life canvas since work and life are nearly always entwined.   And as each session progresses, you’ll be adding to an ideas bank of thoughts and concepts that we will then use as we start to redesign your career.

Coaching sessions take between 60 and 75 minutes over Zoom (or equivalent) and normally we will meet every two to three weeks.  During that time there’ll be discovery activity for you to complete so that the time we spend together is used productively.   You should expect this to take between two and four hours between sessions.

As you work through the steps in the programme, I’m always available to give you some pointers or support or show you examples.

  • Pay in three installments

    Pay £650 / $850 up front and then two further installments of the same amount at month 3 and month 6 making a total of £1950 / $2550
